What you need before you start.
- A Carrd site — built from scratch or from a Templates of Carrd layout.

- A domain — from any registrar. You only need access to its DNS settings.
Connect the domain in seven steps.
These are Carrd's documented Publish steps, plus the two DNS records your registrar needs.
- Open your site in the Carrd editor and click Publish.
- Set the publish action to Publish to a custom domain.
- Enter your domain exactly as you want it — either domain.ext or www.domain.ext. Whichever form you do not use will redirect to the other automatically.
- In your registrar's DNS settings, add an A record pointing @ to the IP address Carrd shows on the publish screen.
- Add a CNAME record pointing www to your bare domain (domain.ext).
- Back in Carrd, click Publish Changes. Domain setup can take up to an hour, though it is usually much faster.
- Load the domain in a new tab and check for the padlock — Carrd issues the SSL certificate automatically via Let's Encrypt.
If the domain does not resolve.
- Give DNS time. Up to an hour is normal; some registrars cache longer. Re-check before changing anything.
- Check the record targets. The A record must use the exact IP from your Carrd publish screen, and the CNAME must point to your bare domain — not to a carrd.co address.
- Remove conflicting records. An old A record or parking-page record on @ or www overrides the new ones at some registrars.
- Confirm the plan. The custom domain option only appears on Pro Standard and above.
