How to price Etsy listings with Etsy Pricing Calculator

Most sellers undercharge because they forget a fee tier. Enter your material cost, labour, shipping, and target margin — and see the sell price that covers Etsy fees before you list.

What Etsy charges on each sale.

Etsy stacks three main fees on a typical US listing. They apply to the item price and, for one of them, shipping too.

  • Listing fee — $0.20 when you publish or renew a listing (editable in the tool for multi-quantity cases).
  • Transaction fee — 6.5% of the item price plus shipping charged to the buyer.
  • Payment processing — about 3% of the item price plus a $0.25 flat fee per order (US default).

Rates vary by country and change over time. The calculator ships with US defaults you can edit — always verify live rates at etsy.com/fees.

Enter material cost, optional labour, shipping, margin, and editable fee defaults on the left.

Find your sell price in three steps.

  1. Open Etsy Pricing Calculator and fill in material cost, time × hourly rate (optional), and shipping charged to the buyer.
  2. Set your target profit margin on the slider — default is 30%.
  3. Read the recommended sell price and fee breakdown on the right. Adjust fee defaults if you sell outside the US.

The tool shows a minimum break-even price (covers costs and fees) and a recommended price that hits your margin after fees.

Recommended price, fee line items, net profit, and margin update as you type.

Worked example: handmade item.

Suppose your materials cost $5, you spend one hour at $15/hr, you charge the buyer $4 shipping, and you want a 30% margin:

  • Labour = 1 × $15 = $15 → total cost base = $20
  • Minimum break-even item price ≈ $22.88
  • Recommended item price ≈ $34.23 (30% margin after fees)

Use the manual override field to test a price you already have in mind — if it shows a loss, the margin chip turns red.
